How I started

Born in 1953 and brought up in Grays, Essex, England, I first became interested in family history about 30 years ago when my parents were visited by some American cousins (not Lobleys).   They were keen to discover some information about their English roots.  I helped them start - and my interest grew from there.

I started by joining family history societies for the areas where many Lobley families had their origins, visited record offices, libraries and parish churches, copied mountains of information on the Lobley family and, most importantly, spent time talking to family members.

I am now a member of the Society of Genealogists and  the Guild of One-Name Studies.   This website is an extension of my researches.  I hope to make information available to all researchers and provide a conduit for all queries on the name.
